FOCUS, Inc. is a non-profit family outreach center which provides services to families with special needs children. In 2009, FOCUS chose new office space in Eagle River, AK to move their offices to and selected DIRTT modular walls for their new space. Etched and patterned glass walls with sliding barn doors were chosen and installation was completed in August that year. FOCUS features the first curved glass wall project in Alaska.
Paragon Design provided a contemporary DIRTT wall system for Providence’s TLO physical therapy facility. A taste of color was desired in order to create an aesthetically pleasing environment for their patients. Use of sliding barn doors allowed for more functional and efficient therapy exam rooms. Back painted glass tiles, integrated into the wall system are utilized as whiteboards. Fabric tiles, also part of the wall system, made for great use of tack boards. The interior was designed in DIRTT’s ICE software by Paragon Design.
In 2006, Lynn was retained as the designer for the first project in Alaska seeking LEED Gold Certification. The 15,000 square foot facility used DIRTT’s Agile Architectural Wall System in order to create a sustainable interior, allowing for ease of future reconfigurations. DIRTT’s wall system will contribute to earning the LEED points necessary for their achievement of LEED Gold Certification.
The design concept developed by ECY Hyer, Architects and the owner, Anchorage Community Land Trust of the 12,000 square foot space incorporated the use of DIRTT’s Agile Architectural System. The project included the renovation and upgrade of an old building converting it to a “Class A” space. This was the first project in the Anchorage Municipality to use a recycled content “Green” interior wall system.
In 2006, Paragon Design provided the DIRTT wall system for Alaska USA’s Wasilla and Palmer branches. The newly constructed facilities used a wood veneer finish and a conservative wall style which resulted in a very pleasing aesthetic interior. Cole and Thompson Architects and AK USA management team created the desired wall styles to be used throughout both facilities. Interiors were designed in DIRTT’s ICE software by Paragon.
In 2008, DIRTT was selected for Chevron’s new offices in Anchorage. The project consisted on 2800 lineal feet of glass walls and 275 sliding barn doors. Paragon’s local Certified DIRTT Technician Firm, JR Heritage, was responsible for the installation which required a crew of 12-15 for approximately six weeks. The 3D graphic mountain scene was applied upon completion of installation. DIRTT’s glass walls will earn a LEED point for the LEED CI Certification that the client is pursuing.
Paragon worked with Kumin Architects who created very aesthetically pleasing wall designs for this project. The finishes used were maple veneer, custom chroma coat paints,patterned glass, and clear glass. The DIRTT walls along with the other elements in the space make this a very pleasing and comfortable environment to work in.
